The Unicorn Advantage

There is a moment I come back to often. It happens at the end of a design install — when the last piece of furniture settles into place, the light hits the room just right, and the client standing beside me goes completely quiet. Not because they don’t know what to say. But because the space has said it for them.

That moment is why I built everything I have built.

I am not a designer who also does a few other things. I am a designer, a licensed estate manager, and a licensed real estate professional — and I have spent years intentionally building a studio so that my clients never have to start over with someone new. Most people in this industry are exceptional at one thing. But they rarely talk to each other. And they almost never know you the way a long-term partner does. That is the gap I have always wanted to close.

It starts with design — because it has always started with design. Before I sketch a single idea or source a single piece, I spend time understanding who my client is. How they live. What they value. What they are stepping into. That philosophy of deep listening and genuine care does not stop at the front door. It travels with me into every other dimension of this work. When one of my design clients asked me to manage their property, I saw immediately that there was a real need — a gap between the beauty of a well-designed space and the ongoing work of protecting it as an asset. That conversation was the seed that grew into Platinum Estate Management. I was not pivoting away from design. I was extending it. I was staying true to the same client, the same relationship, the same commitment — just across a wider canvas. And because the State of Hawaii requires a real estate license to manage more than one property or complex, earning that license was not a detour. It was the next honest and necessary step on a path that has always been about one thing: serving my clients across the full arc of their lives on Maui.

What this means in practice is something most people in this industry cannot offer. When you work with me, you do not re-explain yourself to someone new. You call the person who already knows your space, your vision, and your goals. The designer who has stood in your kitchen at golden hour and understands why the light matters. The estate manager who knows your property’s rhythms, its needs, and its potential. The real estate professional who understands exactly what makes it irreplaceable — and what a buyer will feel the moment they walk in. That continuity is rare. That is the unicorn advantage.

The proof is in how it actually unfolds. Recently, a longtime client called me for a referral. She was thinking about selling her Maui property and wanted someone she could trust. The timing was extraordinary — I was steps away from completing my real estate license. Without hesitation, she gave me her listing. My first. That is not a coincidence. That is what happens when trust has already been built over years — through showing up, following through, and always protecting the people on the other side of every decision. The property is a stunning turn-key unit at Sugar Beach in South Kihei — fourth floor, unobstructed ocean views, short-term rental permits in place, and proven rental income. The kind of opportunity that is built for someone ready to own a piece of Maui and start earning from day one. Something exciting is coming, and this is just the beginning.

Three services. One relationship. Zero starting over. That is not a tagline. It is how I have always worked — and it is the thing I am most proud to offer the clients who trust me with their homes, their investments, and their next chapter.

If you are ready to start a conversation, I would love to hear from you.
